Weekend freeway travel advisory, March 27-30

Improvement projects will require lane restrictions and ramp closures along some Phoenix-area freeways this weekend, March 27-30, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes while the following freeway restrictions are in place:

  • Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between Stapley Drive and Gilbert Road in Mesa from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday (March 28) for widening project. Eastbound Loop 202 off-ramp and westbound on-ramp at Gilbert Road closed. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and be prepared to use ramps at adjacent interchanges, including Country Club Drive.
  • Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to two lanes overnight between Dobson and Alma School roads in Mesa from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday (March 28) for sign work. DETOUR: Please be prepared to merge safely when approaching work zone.
  • Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to two lanes in both directions overnight between Val Vista Drive and Greenfield Road in Mesa from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights (March 29-31) for widening project. DETOUR: Please be prepared to merge safely when approaching work zone.
  • Eastbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane overnight between 32nd Street and Baseline Road in Tempe from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (March 28) for sign work. Eastbound I-10 HOV-lane ramp to eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) closed. Other eastbound I-10 ramp to eastbound US 60 will be open. DETOUR: Consider alternate routes, including eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) to southbound Loop 101.
  • Westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed to two lanes overnight between Loop 101 and Interstate 10 in Tempe from 9 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday (March 29) for sign work. Eastbound I-10 HOV-lane ramp to eastbound US 60 closed. Westbound US 60 HOV-lane ramp to westbound I-10 and westbound US 60 ramp to eastbound I-10 (toward Tucson) closed.
  • Southbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) narrowed to two lanes overnight between Indian Bend Road and McDonald Drive from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (March 28) for widening project.
  • Northbound Interstate 17 narrowed to one lane overnight between 19th Avenue and Jefferson Street from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (March 30) for pavement repairs. Northbound I-17 off-ramp at Buckeye Road and northbound off- and on-ramps at Grant Street closed. DETOUR: Consider alternate routes, including westbound I-10 in downtown Phoenix area. Westbound I-10 drivers can connect with I-17 at the “Stack” interchange west of Deck Park Tunnel.
