Update 2: US 60 westbound has reopened between Loop 202 and Greenfield Road in Mesa, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The highway closed about 5 a.m. due to a rollover crash.
Update: ADOT reports via Twitter that US 60 westbound is open at Greenfield, but commuters should expect very heavy traffic on Greenfield and the on-ramp. Also, westbound is narrowed to two lanes at both Val Vista and Higley roads.
A crash has closed U.S. Highway 60 westbound between Loop 202 and Greenfield Road in Mesa, according to a 6:14 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, press release from the Arizona Department of Transportation. The closure includes westbound on-ramps at Sossaman Road, Power Road, Superstition Springs Boulevard and Higley Road. An earlier press release about an accident at Higley Road was released at 5:27 a.m.
Drivers can get around the closure by using the westbound segments of L-202 Red Mountain or Santan freeways as alternate routes. Drivers should expect delays and extended travel times approaching the closure on US 60, as well as on the alternate routes.
There is no estimated time to reopen US 60 westbound. Eastbound lanes of US 60 remain open in the area.
