Update: ADOT reported in a 4:28 p.m. press release that the eastbound lanes of Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway reopened at Gilbert Road.
The eastbound lanes of Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway are closed at Gilbert because of a serious crash, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. All traffic is being routed off the freeway at Gilbert Road. ADOT crews are responding to the crash, according to a 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, press release from ADOT.
Drivers should expect long delays and consider alternate routes like US 60. There is no estimated time to reopen the highway.
Westbound L-202 remains open.
