Orangetheory Fitness, a group interval fitness concept broken into cardiovascular and strength training, on May 15 opened its 17th Valley location near Gilbert’s Heritage District. The studio is at 1110 S. Gilbert Road Suite No. 102, the northwest corner of Gilbert Road and Gilbert Town Square Avenue, according to a press release.
“We’re so excited to open our newest studio here in Gilbert and become a part of this very welcoming and friendly town,” Becky Renner, Arizona area developer and owner of Orangetheory Fitness Gilbert, said in the release. “I am a firm believer in the workout not only because I have personally seen results from it, but also because it offers a fun and unique way to stay active and meet fitness goals.”
Orangetheory Fitness is backed by the science of excess post-exercise oxygen consumption. Orangetheory’s heart-rate-monitored training is designed to keep heart rates in a target zone that stimulates metabolism and increases energy. Led by personal trainers, participants use a variety of equipment including treadmills, rowing machines, TRX Suspension Training and free weights. Participants can expect to burn anywhere from 500 to 1000 calories per 60-minute session. The result from this type of workout is the “Orange Effect” – meaning more energy, visible toning and extra calorie burn for up to 36 hours post-workout, according to the release.
Orangetheory Fitness Gilbert also features Orangetheory Fitness’ newest heart-rate monitor, the OTBeat. It uses a Bluetooth connection to give quick stats on calories burned, amount of time spent in different zones during a workout and more. In addition to being used during class, the OTBeat can be used outside of Orangetheory Fitness classes with a cell phone app during other workouts.
