Arizona native Brynn Jones found a way to combine her sense of style and her passion for helping out the community by creating her own modern boutique right out of her Tempe garage.
Located off of Baseline Road and McClintock Drive, BJ’s Closet is open for business every second and fourth weekend of the month. Ms. Jones said her hipster-like parents influenced her boutique to be organic and local.
“Born and raised in Arizona by two hippies I call my parents, I was taught to always shop local products,” Ms. Jones said. “By creating BJ’s Closet, I have been able to stay true to my Arizona roots while at the same time helping out local designers.”
Brandon Reish, a close friend of Ms. Jones’, said Ms. Jones has always had a unique style. Her unique style and ability to spot a trend before it’s trending is why Ms. Jones is able to being in the wide variety of styles and shoppers.
“From pre-K through college, growing up with Brynn I have seen her evolve into many different versions of herself,” Mr. Reish said. “I believe that Brynn will have the option to stay local or to expand her business if she wants because she (has) a dream and the motivation to execute it and that’s all you need.”
BJ’s Closet supports nine local designers’ merchandise. Olivia Batille, a local jewelry designer, said Ms. Jones has helped her jewelry line tremendously.
“Prior to having my merchandise sold at BJ’s Closet, I was just another struggling designer trying to catch a break,” Ms. Batille said. “I think I can speak for all of the designers supported by BJ’s Closet when I say that Brynn wants to be successful and is more than willing to help everyone along the way.”
